Certified Nurse’s Aide Training Offered in Grayville

Individuals interested in employment as a Certified Nurse Aide may register now for the training classes beginning Aug. 22 in Grayville through Frontier Community College.

The Basic Nurse Assistant Training program is designed to teach and train individuals to help care for patients under the supervision of a registered or licensed practical nurse. The course provides both classroom lecture and clinical experience.

HEA 1203 (31691), Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program, will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. at the Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville. Clinical training will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m.. – 4:00 p.m. a few weeks after the semester begins. Rosalyn Crawford is the course instructor. The last class meeting is October 14. Registration is limited to 10 students.

Health Care Education Center Opens in Mount Airy

Carroll, Howard and Frederick community colleges are teaming up to build a new center for health-care education that will enable students from the colleges take a wider array of classes at in-county rates.

A Big Recognition for SCCC Nursing Program

A nursing shortage on the East End spurred Suffolk County Community College to launch a licensed practical nursing program at its downtown Riverhead center in 2008. And the program is about to gain accreditation from the National League of Nursing.

“It has been a long journey,” said program director Doreen Biondolillo. At the same time, she admits that gaining accreditation is usually a much longer process, and she’s pleased that the school’s program has been 100 percent recommended.

Top 9 Health Care Jobs Expected to See Rapid Growth Through 2018

Health care jobsThe health care field is one of the few industries that sustained steady growth, even through the recession, adding jobs every month for the last eight years. And that growth should continue. Two factors – an aging population and health reform – guarantee that health care jobs will be there for the taking, experts said.

In the past 12 months, health care has added an average of 24,000 jobs per month. But that trend goes back even further. Health care jobs have increased every month going back to July 2003, according to the government.

‘Ready for Change’: Nearly 25% of Registered Nurses (RNs) Plan to Seek New Job

Nearly one-quarter of registered nurses (RNs) surveyed earlier this year say they will seek a new place of employment as the economy recovers.

Registered Nurses (RNs)That is up sharply from the 15 percent who say they would seek a new place of employment in a similar survey conducted in 2010.

That is among key findings from the 2011 Survey of Registered Nurses: Job Satisfaction and Career Plans, conducted by AMN Healthcare (NYSE: AHS), the nation’s leading provider of comprehensive healthcare staffing and management services. The survey, which collected data from 1,002 respondents, was conducted as the economy begins to recover and reflects how RNs may alter their career plans due to the recovery, and offers a snapshot of current job satisfaction levels.
